And there were for about the first 6 months. Then the sole of both sandals split just behind the ball of the foot. Glued them back together, then they split again in a slightly different line, and by then the foot bed was split at the same location. It seems like the removable foot bed and rubber tub sole just isn't as resilient for as the old solid cork and eva for every day use. The were great while they lasted, but they are way too expensive for something that only lasts 6 months. Just a warning for others with wider than medium forefoot: the "little pinch" in the store, (from my wider than medium forefoot) became a much more than a pinch on day 2 after spending 3 hours on my feet in these. By the end of 2 hours, the little toe on each foot really felt the "narrow" in the width description. It took several days of wearing flats for my feet to to recover! I'd been hopeful - because I can wear the "narrow to medium" Elegant sandals Naot makes; apparently the closed in quality of a shoe was the diff. Not for everyone - I regret the purchase. But they are beautiful for those less wide than I. I comfortably wear and own six pairs of wonderful Naot sandals and flats! I use one as a slipper in the house during the winter, one for outdoors, and one as a backup. I find them to be very comfortable and the arch prevents plantar fasciitis. Yes, I have had one pair of soles split, "late in the game," where they flex, but Naot replaced them. Indeed, outer replacement soles cost only about $25. I have had my Jaspers resoled up to three times. And then, of course, the insoles can replaced too. I most highly endorse Naot's Jaspers! Not sure one can make this out in the pics, but there is a shiny leather rectangle right before the toes and on the tip of the velcro fastener. They are suede and, well, this material is a little delicate. I give this shoe a 4 out of 5 only because of the delicacy of the suede. I tripped and literally just hit the edge of a crack in the side walk and the toe aspect of the suede looks jagged, now :-(. Texture goes well with a shiny bag of any color. Like that one can protect them and wear them as rain boots or in the winter. Lining is warm but not too bulky, so a good fall/spring boot, as well. It rains a lot here, and "Hunter" boots are in, here. I like them, but find they look terrible with fancier outfits. A 4 out of 5 ONLY because, as a previous poster already mentioned, they fit a little loose just under the knee. I have had bunion surgery on one foot that wasn't very successful and has left my foot noticeably thicker than the other foot (which still has a bunion). When I went to Nordstroms to look for shoes that I could stand in all day I didn't have much hope. But, my salesperson had a surprise for me! She recommended the Naot Ashley's. She showed me the metal leather color and pointed out how versatile they were and I wouldn't need to buy black, navy and brown shoes...these went with almost everything. Wish I had taken them to France this summer as I took other sandals and paid with blisters. These sandals = comfort (and look good...what compliments I get, including from my discerning daughter!). The top has not stretched out at all...and frankly, if they only lasted a summer I would consider all the comfort and looks worth it for those on their feet /walking a lot..but these shoes will be good for next summer (and on?) as well. However, in less than two weeks of wear, the outer stitching closest to the soles has completely broken up. This pair of shoes will look awful with two more weeks of wear. I travel a lot for work and these are great to wear on the plane, walking around town and in meetings with dress pants. Only complaint was I scuffed the front of one down to the leather inside - thought they were ruined for good since a shoe place said they couldn't fix patent. I put some dark maroon nail polish and a clear coat and you don't even notice it now.
